The Effects of Rap Music on Children

Xavier Miranda Professor John Mammen English 1301 23 June 2012 The Effects of Rap Music on Children â€Å"There is no danger of developing eyestrain from looking on the bright side of things. † This quote fits perfectly with this topic. Too many people look at the negativities in music, Rap music to be specific. Rap music can have negative effects on those who listen to it, but just as easily and equally have a positive and beneficial outcome.Yes, many rappers use vulgar derogative terms to describe women and may influence its listeners to break the law or things of the like; but it can also open our eyes, we can learn new things from it and it can influence us to be better people and do things, good things, with our lives. Now Rap isn’t anything new it’s been around since about the 1970’s and been influencing those who listen to it for about 40 years now (â€Å"Rap†). When people hear the term â€Å"rap music† their initial thought will be à ¢â‚¬Å"that’s bad† or â€Å"that’s demeaning to women† which in a sense is true. For example the song â€Å"Walk this way† performed by Aerosmith and Run D.M. C. is about how a young high school student is lead through his first sexual experience by a debauched cheerleader. In a better known song â€Å"Make it Rain† by Fat Joe he says â€Å"Owwwww mami's body is banging, man/ she got it, man/ she does it all She gets it popping with no hands† And then there’s the song almost everybody knows by Jay-Z. â€Å"99 problems†, where he refers to women as â€Å"bitches†. Songs like these make women seem like tools and expendable creatures, and may influence children that listen to this type of rap to treat women as such, â€Å"but many of them were influenced as teenagers by gangster rap.Perhaps I should start using words like, niggers, hoes and slut-bitches since I would only be reflecting my society's music† (Leary ). But the best example, to make this point clear, is the music video â€Å"Every girl† by â€Å"Young Money†. In the video there are females dressed promiscuously throughout and the lyricist admits to wishing he could have sexual intercourse with every girl in the world. There many other songs that contain this type of disrespect towards the female sex, which gives a more credible argument to those who don’t like rap.Another point people may make against Rap music is the fact that many Rappers Rap and live very violently. Eminem is at the top of my list when it comes to being violent. There’s the song â€Å"Who knew? † in which he defends himself by saying: â€Å"I never knew I, knew I'd effect this kid/ I never knew I'd, get him to slit his wrist/ I never knew I'd, get him to hit this bitch† Although the song in and of itself is a bit ironic, Eminem acknowledges the fact that now he knows he can influence his listeners with his music. And i n â€Å"Love the Way you Lie† in which he says the following verse â€Å"If she ever tries to fucking leave again/ Im'a tie her to the bed and set this house on fire. † we see again the violence, and the music video for said song is of a couple who constantly fight and by the end of the song the couples house is up in flames. â€Å"One study found that young subjects who watched violent rap videos were more accepting of violent actions†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Copley) and these lyrics that we very well hear over the radio and in our everyday lives promote breaking or disregarding the law, and many people still stop and wonder why the world is so violent. But like stated at the beginning of this paper there is a bright side to this moon. Before writing this paper laziness overcame me and I began to procrastinate and started listening to music and then the song â€Å"Airplanes Part 2† by B. o. b. feat. Eminem came on. Towards the end of the song Eminem says the words  "Pretend he procrastinated had no motivation/ Pretend he just made excuses that were so paper thin they could blow away with the wind† which is what I was doing and it â€Å"turned me on† and opened my eyes.As the song finishes Eminem continues to rap in third person about himself and how if it wasn’t for this one moment in his life that he had not chased his dream he wouldn’t be who he wanted to be. I then proceeded to get up and write this paper. So this song had an effect, a positive one on me. And it can have similar effects on others who listen to it. The language most rappers use is profanity, but a handful of rappers use uncommon words to express themselves, which can lead to one finding out the definition of the word and later possibly using them in school work. For example Eminem uses the word â€Å"antidisestablishmentarianism† which is a political position in the Anglican Church that chooses to withdraw support from certain churches. And n eedless to say I used it in a world history paper. There’s also some songs by the rapper Immortal Technique who uses biblical metaphors in his music like in the song â€Å"Point of no Return† he asks us to open our eyes and actually see what’s going on around us because the end of the world is near. Music like everything else has a good side and a bad side. Most people ignore the good and disregard Rap music as a whole. As expressed in this paper, yes it can have negative effects and influence children to do bad things but it can also influence them in a good way and even give them certain tools to use in the future. This research improves our knowledge, skills ; ability. In ABA program on the course BUS 405 Research Methodology for Business is very important things. Students know about the research. Knowledge of research not only helps one to look at the available information In sophisticated and creative ways in the fast-paced global environment that business race but this knowledge also helps In other ways. Modern technology has made research an excellent and a relatively smooth process.Today a personal computer with a modem or any means to an internet connection places one within easy reach of knowledge of what happening in the global environment. Technology has facilitated the research process and decision making. 1. 2 Objective * To Identify the satisfaction level To Identify the average expenditure * To identify the burden level * To identify the average per minute call charge of BAL ; GAP connection to subscribers opinion * To identify ; analysis that mobile phone is playing a significant role in the economic development of Bangladesh. . 3 Methodology Methodology is very important : useful thing in a report. Methodology is a guideline system for salving a problem with specific components. Such us phases, task, Method, techniques ; tools. There are two sources of data collection: * Primary sources There are several method of collecting data : The observation method is the mostly commonly used method in studied relating to behavioral sciences. In a way we all observe things around us, but this sort observation is not is scientific observation.Observation becomes a scientific tool and the method of data collection for the researcher when it serves a formulated research purpose is systematically planned and recorded and is subjected to checks and controls on validity band reliability. 2. D) Large samples can be made use of and thus the results can be made more dependable and reliable. 4. Through the schedulesThis method of data collection is very much like the collection of data through questionnaire with little difference which lies in the fact that schedules are being filled in by the enumerators who are specially appointed for purpose. These enumerators along with schedules go to respondents put to them the questions from the Performa in the order the questions are listed and record the replies in the space meant of the same Performa. Ins certain situation schedules may be handed over the respondents and enumerators may help them in recording their answers to various questions in the said schedules.Enumerators explain the aims and objects of the investigation and also remove the difficulties which any respondent may feel in understanding the implications of a particular question or the definition of conce pt of difficult terms. 5. To integrate and summarize what is known in an area. * To learn from others and stimulate new ideas. * Identification of variables. * Helps in developing theoretical framework. 3. 2 Determining Variables Simply defined, variable is a concept that varies. The values can differ at various times for the same object or person, or at the same time for different object or persons. There are two types of concepts. These are: Concept refers to a fixed phenomenon * Concepts that those varies in quantity, Intensity or amount The 2nd type of concept and measure of concept are variable. Because variable represents a quality that can exhibit difference in value, usually magnitude or strength, it may be said that a variable generally is anything that may assume different numerical or categorical values. For example: * Gender(male, female) * Marital status (Married, Unmarried ,widowed ,Divorced) * Family income * Attitude toward women empowerment(highly favorable-h ighly unfavorable) There are several types of Variables. There are: Dependent Variable * Independent Variable * Continuous Variable * Discontinuous Variable * Moderating Variable * Intervening Variables * Extraneous Variables * Relationship Among Variables 3. 3 Constructing theoretical framework The theoretical framework is the foundation on which the entire research project is based. It I logically developed, described and elaborated network of associations among the variable deemed relevant to the problem situation and identified through such processes as interviews, Observation and literature survey. Experience and intuition also guide in developing the theoretical framework. The components of the theoretical framework: 1 . The variables considered relevant to the study should be clearly identified and labeled in the discussions 2. The discussions should state how two or more variables are related to one another This should be dome for the important direction of the relationships c an be theorized on the basis of the finding s of previous research, then there should be an indication in the discussions as to whether the relationships would be positive or negative. 4. There should be a clear explanation of why we would expect these relationships to exist.

Concerted activity and social networking Research Paper

Concerted activity and social networking - Research Paper Example The same rationale was applied in the case of Crawford v. Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County of 2009. In this particular case the court held that an employee might not be retaliated against for taking part in an organization’s investigation of a colleague’s complaint (Hogan, 2011). The courts even went on to award a $1.5 million to the staff member who had filed the lawsuit. Even the judge in the Thompson v. North American Stainless case appeared to concur with both judgments when he allowed for a man to sue for retaliatory for being fired just shortly after her spouse filed a sex discrimination charge against her employer who was also his spouse’s employer (Sprague, 2012). It was this kind of reasoning that informed the enactment of the National Labor Relation Act (NLRA) or the law governing the relationship between unions and organization’s management. ... Still the same line of reasoning held sway if a number of rulings that have been made in connection to disparaging remarks made in social media site on employers is anything to go by. The explosion of these social networking has brought about new employment-related issues to the organizations that companies should worry about very much. This explain why new issues like; online harassment and particularly in any of the social sites, theft of company’s secrets by bloggers and ranting from some quarters about YouTube, MySpace, twitter and any other social networking sites; have become common theme is employments seminars. Just as employers are trying to come up with ways and means of dealing with these challenges, a new debate has been kicked-off interrogating the question of whether internet postings constitutes Concerted Activity under the definition of National Labor Relation Act (NLRA).In this regard, NLRA is a law that was enacted in 1935 in order to protect the employeesâ⠂¬â„¢ rights in concerted activity (Smith, 2011). Although the law does not explicitly define what a concerted activity is, case laws have offered what can be looked on as the range of activities that make up concerted activities. These activities include; hour, wages, safety, working condition and also benefits. According to NLRA, these are the activities that should not be prohibited by any policy that a company might decide to implement. As a law, NLRA is the reference point of HR professionals and organizations when it comes to dealing with employees’ social media activities, and particularly Section 7 which provides that â€Å"employees have a right to self-organization, to form, join, or even help labor

Public Transportation in the UK Article Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 4500 words

Public Transportation in the UK - Article Example The fact that the value chain reflects upon the overall process of the business in a given industry as argued by Gerry Johnson and Kevan Scholes (2003) justifies the arguments in the previous sections that the information management system focusing on the ticketing and dynamic pricing will help accomplish efficient primary activity processing in the target market. From the arguments presented in this essay, it is clear that the efficiency in the railway industry is a critical element that is being affected by various macroeconomic factors. The PEST analysis also revealed that the railway industry possesses certain strengths like mass transportation, the geographical area covered, etc that can be used for the benefit of the business process itself. The SWOT analysis revealed that the efficiency in the target market can be increased through the efficient use of live finance information dynamically in order to fix the price for a certain journey between two given stations as argued by D ominic Fenn (2005). The review on the financial information system and the value chain also confirmed that the deployment of the system would not alter the system drastically but actually increase the operational efficiency of the system thus increasing the effectiveness of the system. Thus to conclude this report it is clear that the implementation of the Financial information system will help accomplish operational efficiency and increase the performance of the railway network as a whole.

German Development issue Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

German Development issue - Essay Example Indeed, Germany had openly supported the employment and financial reforms that were introduced in the meeting actually aimed to deal with monster rising unemployment and credit issues. â€Å"Unions were however heartened by the fact that German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who met a trade union delegation in Toronto on 26 June, supported trade union demands to reference the recent G20 Labour Ministers meeting in Washington in the final statement, and said that Germany stood ready to host a further G20 Labour Ministerial during the next year† (ITUC, 2010). The above is the evidence that German government authorities are eager to cooperate and coordinate with various trade unions and worker unions so that they could negotiate to reach a consensus for welfare and well – being of employees. Indeed, the meeting with Labor ministers of G – 20 nations would enable the concerned authorities to define the present state of labor market and to discuss possible measures for further improvement. Germany has also endorsed the idea of enhancing mutual macroeconomic cooperation and collaboration with other G – 20 member countries to successfully implement the new reforms that would help avert global financial crisis in future. Indeed, there is dire need to implement this framework to ensure survival, growth and sustainability of financial and economic institutions across developed and developing nations. Germany supported the idea to repair existing international financial system in the light of suggestions from authentic financial institutions such as IMF and the World Bank. For instance, there has been immediate need to develop a relatively flexible financial system that will help ‘reducing systematic risk and moral hazards’. As a result, the probability that the world may face another credit crisis in future could be reduced. (OECD,

The guarantee of freedom of (and from) religion in America Assignment

The guarantee of freedom of (and from) religion in America - Assignment Example For example, the government is prohibited from enacting laws that aid any religion or establish an official state religion. All this is in a bid to achieve the separation of the state and church at both the state and national levels of government. In the Everson v. Board Education, the court provided a list of activities that violate the establishment and are prohibited by the First Amendment (National Paralegal College 1. They include: the setting up of a state church; the passing of laws which particularly aid one religion or aid religions generally; the forcing of or influencing of persons to attend or not attend church; the punishing of individuals for ascribing to particular beliefs or disbeliefs or for not attending or attending church; the levying of taxes to support religious activities or institutions and; the participation of government in religious organizations or participation in government by religious organizations. The Free Exercise clause is a provision that guarantees an individual the right to propagate or practice a religion without interference by government. Several activities violate the free exercise clause. First, if the purpose of any government action or state law is singling out religion for adverse treatment or hindering or discriminating against a particular religion, then it amounts to a violation of the free exercise clause. ... In Engel v. Vitale in 1962, the Supreme Court termed as unconstitutional a prayer recommended to be part of the public school curriculum in New York State. The Supreme Court struck the prayer down as unconstitutional. In Lemon v. Kurtzman in 1971, a three-pronged test known as the Lemon test was established to determine if a statute is in violation of the establishment clause. Students in public schools are not allowed to recite prayers. However, the practice of a legislature by the state to open its sessions with a nondenominational prayer that is recited by a chaplain has managed to withstand constitutional challenges. In Marsh v. Chambers in 1983, the Supreme Court made a ruling that such a practice was not in violation of the establishment clause (LII 3). In Edwards v. Aguillard in 1987, the Supreme Court struck down a Creationism Act in Louisiana that prevented the teaching of evolution in public schools. This issue still creates debate even today regarding creationism and evolu tion. Other key rulings include Lynch v. Donnelly, West Virginia State Board of Educatio v. Barnette, Wisconsin v. Yoder, and United States v. Lee. 3. What does Tocqueville observe with relevance to these matters? Tocqueville approaches the issue of religion in a pragmatic manner. Tocqueville observes that the American society has a scarce history of state-church alliance. Also, it has a constitutional guarantee against this alliance. Despite this, the American society is extremely open to religious practice’s favorable influences. In his observations, Tocqueville (1) notes that all Christian groups propound a similar morality which is based on loving God and loving their neighbors. This means that they all agree that man has duty to other men.

Language, Acquisition, and Teaching Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3750 words

Language, Acquisition, and Teaching - Essay Example This highlights the lively discourse pertinent to the process of language acquisition, specifically, when dealing with the issue of first language acquisition vis-a-vis second language acquisition. In this context, this research will delve on two significant issues, namely, â€Å"How far can the process of first language acquisition be taken as a model for the acquisition of a second language? What are the implications for the second language teachers?† For purposes of limitation and clarification, for this study the term â€Å"first language† pertains to the native language of a person, which has been acquired without undergoing formal learning processes to acquire the language, since it is the mother tongue of the person. It is the language the child learns from his/her parents, family, relatives, and from others (Yaz?c?, Ilter, and Glover, 2010). On the other hand, second language is another language acquired by the person, aside from her mother tongue. Second langua ge is a language learnt after the first language and it is often contrasted with ‘foreign’ in terms of function and location (Cook 2006; 2008). For example, a four-year-old Indonesian child who speaks Bahasa Indonesia at home, while the child’s family reside in Netherlands, and therefore she studies Dutch. As such, the child is acquiring SL. On the other hand, a four-year-old Indonesian child whose family resides in Indonesia, speaks Bahasa Indonesia, studies Bahasa Indonesia in school; is therefore developing FLA alone. This distinction serves as a guide in understanding these two terms as it is used in the entire research. The paper recognises the broadness of the offered connotations of first language and second language. Nonetheless, what is essential is that through the minimal distinction provided between the two concepts, a parameter is set, thus, enabling the possibility of distinction between FLA and SLA. In addition, the paper also defines language acqu isition as the subconscious process of developing language ability and that it is fostered in a non-threatening environment (Krashen, 1981). On the other hand, language learning is also a process of developing language ability, however, it occurs in academic setting and there is a conscious effort in knowing the syntax and semantics of a particular language (Krashen 1981). From this perspective, the paper asserts that aside from chronology and contrast with the term ‘foreign’, second language acquisition (SLA) is a process wherein the person as a student in an academic setting learns another language. It is a conscious endeavour to acquire a second language aside from one’s mother tongue. In this regard, the necessity of a shared framework between first language acquisition (FLA) and second language acquisition (SLA) becomes feasible as it offers the paradigm in which FLA becomes the initial framework in which sense and meaning of the second language is apprehend ed. In this regard, second language teachers are challenged to recognise not only the academic, language, and cognitive development of the learner, but they also have to learn to factor the socio-economic and cultural processes and other affective factors that influence the person as she goes though SLA.

Editing and Conclusion Writing Essay Initial Conclusion: As my report states, you will not always you’re entire life have to devote yourselves to cleening up the enviroment in order to make a differance to the World. Therefore, we should all put more enargy in to re cycling. Its made a difference in my house because we useto have more trash then we do now since we re cycle.   Also, seperating is good. I hope you enjoyed reading my paper on re cycling. THE END 🙂 Revised Conclusion: As can be seen in the aforementioned discussion, it is not necessarily to entirely devote one’s self to cleaning the environment in order to make a difference in the world. It is only necessary to develop environmental friendly habits such as recycling one’s trash. The benefits of recycling are not only limited to having cleaner surroundings but also extends to the maintenance of a cleaner and healthier environment.

American History Essay Example for Free

American History Essay Introduction: American History has always been persuasive and this paper enlightens most influential events in the U. S history. Following paper explains the events from 1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s. Events that have been selected are the one that had an overriding influence on U. S. culture, economy, or governmental policy in that decade. A Step towards Technology: In early 1950’s film theater presence radically declined due to the innovation of television which impacted everyone politically, socially and economically. Hollywood commenced to build up ways to counter free televisions expand by the mounting use of color, and also by bringing in wide-screen films for example: Cinemascope, Cinerama, Vista Vision and etc. Gimmicks for example 3-D presentation with cardboard glasses were also initiated. Several technical improvements within amusement facilitated citizens to survive in a great compact of better-off and thrilling living. The foremost mania that came approximately to standard public was television in 1950’s. It was required by each family in the fifties and it overwhelmed millions of kids whose connection with Television has everlastingly inclined this countrys customs and political affairs. TV enforced numerous journalists and broadcasting corporations to labor hardest in maintaining their businesses in level to Television. (1950s, 2000) In the fifties TV merely had series which were accessible to watch in early afternoons and evenings plus it wasn’t colored only black and white. A number of the popular television shows were westerns like The Honeymooners, I love Lucy, The Twilight Zone, Private Eyes and Superman (Diriks , n. d. ). An Inspiration: Moving towards 1960’s most significant event came in view. Martin Luther King’s Speech ‘I have a dream’ in 1963 was a dynamic force in the push for racial equality. (The Groovys 1960, 2009). The purpose of this speech â€Å"I Have a Dream† which was conveyed which was held at Lincoln Memorial, Washington D. C took place the 28th August 1963 through more than 200,000 citizens was to give confidence for the performing of change among the American citizens and government it was related to their shocking observation towards diverse races or ethnic groups among their people. Martin Luther particularly placed stress on the black Americans being sufferers from professional and personal both ranks. His task was to place major strain on the government which was regarding passing the Civil Rights Bill and its people by telling the errors of their behavior and the pledges which were undeniably not kept all through the history. He also demanded changes and provided answers and in doing that required a lot of persuasion towards them to approach together as a one nation. The Rising civil-rights movement moving across the nation at that time; Productive speech of Martin Luther King made it more effectively, electrified it. Due to the previous immersive civil rights movement of the 1960 U. S went through a huge racial split which is more likely to be on racial discriminating at its climax. The Americans who were white felt themselves as superior and therefore the realism of life for the black Americans was rather unwelcoming. That’s why the enormous bulk of black Americans became as a separation of life, breathing with unpleasant injustice in service, housing, medical services, education and civic adjustment. Even the so called selection of a chosen president could not help them because a lot of were deprived from taking part in any of American political system. Everything was surrounded by an unfair ambiance that he was the only who was capable to raise as an influential leader among the civil rights movement. The Act controlled countless things that Martin Luther King had before asked of the government publically which showed the rule was in fact taking note to the people concerning the following matter. Martin Luther King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his effort, he was the youngest among to get such a Nobel award. (I Have a Dream, 2000) Getting the Blame: The blame for murdering the entire civilization of Vietnam was put on American soldiers. This was considered as one of the most tragic event in the American History. Almost every person in Vietnam especially people in south had to go through the large scale bombing and target killings. The effect in the south during the war’s height in 1960 was so extreme that about half of the population of 20 million was dislocated. The northerners also suffered a lot; warfare and resentment continued on with neighboring countries until 1989. The after effects of the war were humongous. Many civilians lost their relatives and expensive assets. After the war Vietnam was not active in any military conflict. Following the war, the North and South Vietnam were again unified beneath the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Postponement of the hateful battle in North Vietnam was also announced on 15 January 1973, it was afterward tagged along by a biased departure of American troops on Vietnam. Americans concerned and involvement in the Vietnam clash officially came to an end by the signing of Paris Peace Accords on 27 January 1973. On February 11 and March 29, the first batch of U. S. prisoners was released and American army was structured to depart respectively. The most astonishing factor was the fact when the army was coming back from War who was suppose to be treated as heroes incase that did happen, even at times damned for their contribution towards the Vietnam war. Even the contract of peace did not last for an extended period. American army consequently faced by the expectation of having won mainly of the war battles, however it was like having missing the peace. (Timeline of the 1970s, 2000). The American president Nixon was the one, who assured South Vietnam that he would give armed forces hold to them in experiencing the degeneration of military situation. But Nixon was having other problems at his end as well. Nixon was combating for his political profession and his existence. The Watergate humiliation which was intense at the moment faced a gradually more aggressive parliament that held the power of an antagonistic community who were tired of the Vietnam War. Therefore Nixon ruined his pledges towards South Vietnam which was expected. Both fiscal and monetary assist towards South Vietnam sustained although it was almost cut within half. Mainly the help went to the corrupt officials and a minute of it truly went to the needy and people who suffered from the war. Further USSR and China both augmented their support towards the North Vietnam. This clearly showed the imbalance between the North and South Vietnam and thus North Vietnam initiated a foremost military unpleasant stroke which was against south. The course which was completed by Congress; Foreign Assistance Act of 1974 held in December 1974. This completion cut off all military funding to the Saigon government and made unenforceable the peace terms negotiated by Nixon. The reason behind such an action was that it was assumed so as to any innovative military tools shipped to South Vietnam would rapidly handed over to the winning communists. Economical reforms acknowledged as d? i m? i (renovation), introduced by the management since the late 1980s, have been constructing stunning outcomes. Vietnam today is one of the greatest escalating economies in the world, which is filled by exports and overseas direct savings. America became the major export marketplace for Vietnam into fewer than two years after the signing the bilateral deal concurrence in 2001. (The end of U. S invovement, 2007) The Hero: Another event which motivated and provoked almost every woman in the history and the addition of heroes was taken place. The definition and theory of a hero is one that is greatly questioned and pondered. Some people look up to parents, a few admires Lincoln or Martin Luther King while rest of them has superstars. But for my part my hero would be one who had accomplish somewhat that placed a fresh normal in this nation. Sandra Day O’Connor is my hero. President Reagan designated O’Connor on August 19, 1981, for the post of Associate Justice in the United States Supreme Court. On September 25, Sandra was established with the voting of 99-0 and she was avowed in being the first female judge to be on the United States Supreme Court. And for the further 24 years, she controlled upon the Supreme Court. She was the common swing vote amongst closest verdicts. Sandra was frequently portrayed as being the changeable in a way, constantly gave trust to each side. She showed her concerned and knowledge during the time she served for her nation being associate justice. For example, in the decision of Roe v. Wade, her vote, though not the choosing one was serious in allowing abortion privileges. (Derek) From the time period of 1981 to 2006 she was a former American judge and elected official who served as being the first feminine Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in the United States. Her case-by-case move toward jurisprudence and her comparatively reasonable political views, Sandra was the vital swing vote of the Court for quite a few of her final time on the counter. Forbes magazine called her the fourth most influential woman in the United States and the sixth most commanding in the world in 2004. (OConner, Sandra Day, 2006) Bill Clinton Impeached: Moving toward the late 1990’s the most shocking event ever which happened for the first time in U. S political history; The impeachement of Bill Clinton. (President Clinton Impeached, 1994) The House impeached Bill Clinton on accusation of false swearing and hindrance of justice in connection to his concern among Monica Lewinsky who was White House intern. Clinton was ultimately acquitted by the council. In 1998 the U. S. House of Representatives chose in goodwill of two articles of the impeachment. Days sooner than departure of office, he hit a contract with the office of the particular prosecutor in that case so to keep away from an indictment. He further confessed to building deceptive testimony and then was suspended from working law in Arkansas up to five years. Although his wife, Hillary Clinton was voted as a U. S. Senator in 2000 from New York. It was the first point in time a lady had ever been voted to public workplace. Bill Clinton achieved admiration for his determination and his management of the workplace despite of a variety of controversies, strong-minded to increase above them somewhat than be pulled behind by them. It was a major shock to the public because such a leader is a mentor towards them and people still love they were disappointed and disturbed. (The History Place, 2000) Conclusion: History is not about getting disppointed towards our leaders or getting disturbed. Its about learning from our mistakes. American History holds great goals toward every aspect whether it is economical or political or social. There is a lot to learn and improve though many misunderstanding led to wars and severe damage but a lot of thing can still be done. Right now U. S is going through many crisis which are hidden. Changes can be done if racial discrimination can simply vanish. A lot of economical crisis have faced which can’t be changed by U. S by it has to be done on a global level as the whole world is facing them. References: 1950s. (2000). Retrieved July 10, 2010, from 123helpme: http://www. 123helpme. com/view. asp? id=22923 Derek. Internet: An Important Part Of Peoples Lives

Internet: An Important Part Of Peoples Lives I believe that if newspapers dont disappear in the future, they will probably change their format and reduce the number of printed copies. The formats of media are changing not for the first time. According to (Textbook) first newspapers appeared about 1200 years ago. In 1690 the first Americas newspaper was published in Boston. Later, with the adventure of radio and television, newspapers production gradually started to decline, because it became more efficient and quick to get breaking news via new kinds of media. However, TV still didnt have a chance to compete with papers, because papers were providing more deep information. Much bigger stress newspapers felt during 1990s after the appearance of the Internet. About 67 million Americans now read blogs, and 21 million write blogs, creating an explosion of new writers and new forms of customer feedback that did not exist five years ago (pew, 2008). Social networking sites like MySpace or Facebook attact over 70 and 30 million visitors a month, respectively, and businesses are starting to use social networking tools to connect their employees, and managers worldwide.says (Management Information Systems, managing the digital firm, eleventh edition. Keneth C. Laudon, Jane P. Laudon. 2010, chapter 1, page 35).It seems that the whole world is turning online. Nowadays a lot of popular public editions are reducing the number of printed material. For example, according to http://www.usatoday.com/printedition/money/20090318/newspapers18_cv.art.htm, The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News have cut their home delivery to three days a week and advised readers to find the rest of the news online. According to Jeremy Porter there are 4 main aspects which still keep newspapers alive: content, readers, advertisers and format. At the same time JP disproves all these features and argues that newspapers wont be still published in 5 years. (http://blog.journalistics.com/2009/will_your_newspaper_be_around_in_five_years/) Newspapers dont differ a lot from one from another. You can find the same information in the Internet, because most of periodicals, including very popular editions, such as The Wall Street Journal, New York Times or Washington Post, are also published online. Moreover, you can read the overwhelming majority of information online for free, that makes the Internet even more attractive. Readers: A reader is the most important concern for a newspaper. Newspaper will have no success without readers. However, more and more people agree that Its nice to have (printed editions), but they can live without (them). More and more people are becoming Internet-users, and most of Internet users read news online. For example, I myself get new information about what is happening in the world and particularly in me home country, by reading short messages on Twitter. And as far as I know students dont read newspapers at all, despite rare cases, when we need to find a particular piece of information only in a particular newspaper and nowhere else. Talking about older generations, it seems that they should be accustomed to the papers, but statistics proves the opposite. One can argue that older generation reads newspapers and doesnt want to change anything, but according to the survey made by Pew Internet and American Life Project the number of Internet users in age group 70-75 increased from 26 to 45% within 4 years. This fact sounds strange, but 4% of Internet users are 73+ years old. Where do newspapers get their revenue? The most suitable answer is advertisers. But will advertisers sponsor printed newspapers if they are not that successful? According to http://www.usatoday.com/printedition/money/20090318/newspapers18_cv.art.htm large newspapers in big cities are more in danger than local editions are. It is rather expensive to put your ad in a newspaper, especially when you have a lot of other opportunities: radio, magazines, websites and billboards. On the other hand advertisers dont have such a large range of possibilities in small towns, and they have to put their promotion to the newspapers in order to reach the audience. Newspapers revenue can be made also by online advertisements. It is even more comfortable for both sides, because one can track, how many clicks were made on this link, while you will never know, how many people actually read a newspaper and paid any attention to advertisements. The last argument is newspapers are not so environmentally safe. It takes tones of wood material, lots of electricity and many delivery tracks to produce and transport the papers. At the same time the Internet is rather ecologically safe, so producing printed periodicals doesnt make any sense from the environmental point of view. Of course, the Internet requires a lot of technical products, such as computers, notebooks, iPads, and others, but producing of these technologies will grow despite turning newspapers production online. There is an opinion that good online papers will make you pay for the information, because it takes a lot of efforts and enough money to get news, create an article according to them and make this article readable. Moreover, some information is really worth paying. Also many generations were paying for news during the papers era, and why do reporters and journalists have to provide the same information for free? On the other hand, Jeremy Porter in his article http://blog.journalistics.com/2009/journalism_online_will_make_you_pay/ argues that it might be too late to charge for online content. People have already got used to receiving news for free, and it is rather hard to turn the current situation vice versa. Talking about the Internet invasion, we cannot say that all newspapers all over the world will turn online, because today the Internet is not available all over the world, and in some countries the situation is not going to be changed in coming decades. According to Internet usage statistics (http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm) in Middle East, Africa and Oceania/Australia the availability of the Internet is very low, comparing to Asia, Europe and North America. This is the first reason why some people assume that newspapers will stay alive for a long time. Also in local areas printed issues seem to be more convenient. Lets imagine that there is an online resource Blagoevgradonline.bg, which covers latest news of this town. If this site has a success, audience will ask to turn this resource to the paper, because it will be more comfortable for the overwhelming majority of towns population. Another example is our university newspaper DeFacto. It was started in 2003 with the website, but the printed version was neglected only in 2007. This shows that the process can turn not only from paper to website, the reverse is also possible. Phelps Hawkins, JMC Department professor in AUBG, suppose that humankind will need newspapers anyway, because we are becoming tired of the Internet. For example, when one is going to the restaurant or goes on a plane, places where it is not convenient or even forbidden to turn notebooks on, waiters or stewards are suggesting some papers to read and become familiar with latest news. This kind of service is not going to be changed a lot, thats why newspapers have to exist at least in small amounts. Also newspapers can become produced from something different from paper and ink, for example, it could be some kind of plastic. According to Google executive Santiago de la Mora (http://www.techcentral.co.za/newspapers-will-survive-the-internet-google/12483/) Internet will not displace newspapers just as VHS, and later DVD, didnt kill cinema. In his opinion, newspapers have to provide us something that will make people want to read them; and it should be something more than just printing the material. De la Mora is sure that Internet companies dont want to steal newspapers revenue, because first of all, it is publishers material that goes online. Using Googles webmaster tools, publishers can prevent Google from indexing their sites entirely, or they can prevent specific Google services, like Google News, from indexing their content. Yesterday I was talking to my Mom about my research paper, and asked her opinion on the topic. She was hardly urging me that newspapers would not die, because reading a newspaper is sort of ritual, but at the end of our conversation she added a phrase: However, newspapers are terribly inconvenient. They are big and smell like a paint. Almost nobody now is listening to music on tape recorders, and very small amount of people is watching movies on VHS. The world is changing very fast, humankind invents more and more new technologies, and it is good that we are developing our lives replacing outdated stuff by newest technologies. I am not a prophet to make such predictions, but I dont exclude the idea that newspapers will become for people something that reminds them of the past. (As for today, some people are still buying vinyl records). Also, newspapers can stay in small towns in order to cover the local news. What could happen?

Edward Albees Whos Afraid of Virginia Woolf Essay -- Edward Albee Af

Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Edward Albee was an American playwright producer and director. He was born on March 12, 1928 probably in Virginia. He was adopted at an early age, which influenced him to write about characters that are different. His writings were characterized by realism; fidelity to life as perceived and experienced, and were considered to be absurd dramas. Albee, in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, portrays a primitive sex struggle between a middle aged couple; the relationship between George and Martha is acted out in a series of games in which one sex dominates the other through unapparent love, weapons that each have mastered, and the most hurtful insult, the revealing of the hidden truth. The unapparent love for one another is one of the most interesting aspects of George and Martha's relationship. Throughout the play this point is brought out in some of the most memorable scenes. At the end of the play, when George triumphs in the battle, he shows sympathy towards his wife even though he has regrets about revealing the truth about their hypothetical son. Each understand and appreciate one another even though each is a tortured person. In Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Martha states "George who is good to me, and whom I revile, who understands me, and whom I push off; who can make me laugh, and can choke it back in my throat, who can hold me at night, so that it's warm.... who keeps learning the games we play as quickly as I can... Theoretical Study and Computational Modeling :: Graduate Admissions Essays

Theoretical Study and Computational Modeling    As the science of theoretical chemistry has matured, its focus   has shifted from analytically solvable problems, such as the   atomic structure of hydrogen, to more complex problems for which   analytical solutions are difficult or impossible to specify.    Important questions about the behavior of condensed phases of   matter, the electronic structure of heavy atoms and the _in   vivo_ conformation of biological macromolecules fall into this   class.   The powerful, highly-parallel supercomputers that have   evolved from recent advances in computing technology are ideally   suited to the mathematical modeling of these complex chemical   phenomena.   Simulations in which the trajectories of a large   number of interacting bodies must be computed simultaneously,   such as statistical-mechanical Monte Carlo studies or molecular   dynamics simulations, are particularly appropriate for   implementation on parallel machines.   I plan to devote my   graduate and postgraduate work to the theoretical study and   computational modeling of these many-body systems.      In preparation for this work, I have developed a strong   background in mathematics and computer science in addition to my   coursework in chemistry.   Given the current demand for increased   computing capacity, this background should prove beneficial.   For example, while recent advances in computer hardware alone   promise potential tenfold increases in speed, truly significant   jumps in computing power (speedups of, say, a thousandfold) will   require changes in currently available programming environments   and the reformulation of popular simulation algorithms.   Furthermore, until highly-parallel machines become widely   available, even modest increases in capacity will depend in part   upon the innovative use of existing hardware through the   continued modification of available software and the development   of new algorithms.   My elective work in computer science and   mathematics should prove useful for both the revision of   existin g programs and the eventual development of new programs   and languages specifically designed for the parallel   architecture of tomorrow's supercomputers.      After completing my doctoral work, I plan to seek employment as   a university professor.

American Centennial Exposition

The Centennial Exposition of 1876 was America’s first official world’s fair. This fair was held in Philadelphia for celebrating 100th anniversary of the â€Å"Declaration of Independence†. This fair was really important in the history of America as it portray an image of progressive American society, culture and economy on an international platform. This Centennial Exposition was not only celebrated America’s hundred years of independence, but it was also held to showcase the recovery of the country form its reconstruction phase after its independence and the emergence of the nation as an internationally significant industrial super power. This paper will make an attempt to analyze how the Centennial Exposition of 1876 represented the identity of America and how this exposition provided a narrative of American history. The main focus will be on the nature of the exposition which is known better known as a platform where America’s image transformation was made. Thus the thesis statement of this paper can be as follows: The Centennial Exposition of 1876 gave the country a new progressive image in socio-cultural and economic field of America. This thesis statement will be illustrated throughout this paper using several primary sources relating to the American Centennial Exposition of 1876. The focus will be on how the exposition portrayed America’s emergence as a big economic power in world, and how it depicted socio-cultural progress of the nation in terms freed slaves and increasing women contribution in the society. Apart from these, this paper will also discuss how the exposition highlighted the future of America. American Centennial Exposition:The American Centennial Exposition was actually an official exhibition of Manufactures, products of mine and soil, and arts on an international platform. A large section of American population attended the fair. Approximately twenty percent of the population at that time visited t he fair. While in one hand, the fair is memorable for the publication of various Centennial and other poems and music, on the hand, this exposition was designed to showcase America’s innovative progress in the industrial arena. The planning for this exposition had taken as many as ten tears to give it its final shape. The primary sources relating to the American Centennial Exposition including guide to the Centennial, its images, its roadmap, and various articles like â€Å"illustrated History of the Centennial exhibition, held in commemoration of the one hundredth anniversary of American independence† by McCabe portray the features of the exposition and how the exposition had captured the American history and created a new image of the nation to the world. From the photos, Centennial souvenir, and guide to the exposition, it is found that the focal point of the exposition was to showcase its industrial progress. The main attraction of the fair was its Machinery Hall whi ch was decorated with excellent engineering wonders of that age. It showcased electric lights, strongly powered elevators, printing presses, locomotives, mining equipments, magic lanterns, along with introducing some completely new engineering products to the public like mechanical calculator, typewriters, the telephone which was invented by bell, and the telegraph invented by Edison. All these engineering products show the bright industrialized future of the country. Apart from the Machinery building, there were also a number of other attractions in the exposition. For example, significant number of visitors used to visit the Main Building of the fair which was devoted to manufactures of different nations including America. Apart from this, there were also the Memorial which showcased fine arts and the Horticulture Hall which was actually a conservatory for displaying of various native and exotic plants. One of the most excellent things about this first international fair of America was that it presented everything in a very systematic way in the sense that every item was classified in the exposition by departments, like Manufactures, Horticulture, Agriculture, Mining, Education and science and so on.Not only that, there were also various sub-classifications, and sub-sub-classifications on the basis of a logical scheme. The Centennial Exposition produced significant impact on the image of the United States. Prior to 1876, the US was generally considered as a not-so-developed country which was not yet entitled for joining the category of first-class nations. The people living in America in the post Civil War period had gone through a very difficult phase as all those years were marked by various heinous political scandals along with inferior leadership. Although progress in the field of agriculture, industry, etc.had been taking place remarkably on the land of America, it had never been highlighted to the rest of the world. It was the Centennial Exposition whic h for the first time gave an opportunity for the visitors as well as businessmen from other nations to have a close look and get astonished at the sparkling industrial productivity of the America along with its creativity and progressiveness in the field of industry and agriculture. It was only after this fair, when America was started to be hailed as the land of progress which was also thought of becoming one of the most significant economic superpower in future. The exposition gave the people living in America at that time pride in their present situation and lots of confidence on their even brighter future. (University of Delware library, 2009). The American utilized the platform of the Centennial to highlight their innovations in industrial and agricultural areas as at that time they were on the verge of beginning its global economic presence amidst the then economically powerful nations. Representatives of other countries, who came to the fair to showcase their own thing, also g ot the opportunity to purchase things from American firms. The engineering marvels created by Native Americans impressed the visitors. Americans showcased huge engines and machines having complex system that would become the economic future of America by producing industrial products. Primary sources like the photos and Guide to the Exposition show that American did not participate in the fair only to represent America as a whole; instead in a number of cases they represented various states of America. For example, there was Delaware Building in the fair which represented this various crafts of this state.Delaware put its focus on its potentials for developing with a strong economy. It emphasized towns, its transportation facilities along with educational facilities. (University of Delware library, 2009). As far as the socio-cultural field is concerned, this fair also showcased its culture to the rest of the world by introducing around 53 native tribes. They were brought to the fair and they made their camp within it and became one of the most popular display of the fair. The motive behind showcasing them was to introduce the original inhabitant of the nation and their mode of life. These tribal people were considered to be the most deprived and backward segment of the population. But without their progress, the overall economic progress could not have been achieved. The purpose of putting special focus on them was to send message to the rest of the world that the American government was quite aware of the progress of these native people without exercising any bias towards a particular advanced group of people only. (â€Å"People & Events: The Centennial Exposition of 1876†) Finally, the exposition also represented the contribution of women to the American society for the first time in the history of America.Various primary sources like the articles, such as â€Å"illustrated History of the Centennial exhibition, held in commemoration of the one hundredt h anniversary of American independence† by McCabe, â€Å" Declaration and Protect of the Women of the United states† by National Woman Suffrage Association , etc showed that at the time of planning of the fair a committee for women protested the male dominated nature of the fair and lobbied for creating a women’s building in the fair. This committee also raised fund and gained support for constructing their own building. They also showcased women’s contribution in the areas of arts, science, humanities and so on. The members of National women Suffrage also made an attempt to read a declaration or their rights. But they were not permitted to do so for which they showcased huge protest. Conclusion: The American Centennial Exposition can therefore be characterized as a platform where Americans tried to change their image to the rest of the world. In practice, the Americans were able to properly utilize the big platform of the fair to create their new identity as a progressive economic power which had a bight future. The wonderful narratives of its historical development through exhibiting its progress in industrial, agricultural, and socio-economic sector attracted huge number of visitors across the world and changed their vision regarding the nation. A five-year career goal plan

I work for AAFES it is a subcontractor for the government. In this company the main store is called the† PX â€Å"in the civilian world it would be like a Wal-Mart. There are other stores that are included like gas stations and fast food restaurants such as Burger King, Taco John’s, McDonald’s etc. AAFES are located on military bases around the world. We serve for the men and women in the military â€Å"wherever they go we go† we provide services from the basic necessities to high-end products. My duty as an area manager is to make sure to take care of the customer service and the complaints also to make sure all training is done by all employees as needed. Was a manager I find ways to improve the sales floor with new fresh idea to meet sales goals. I also make sure all the accounting is correct and accurate such as items that need to be counted twice a day such as laptop iPad high-end Jewelry and items worth more than $1000. I am responsible to make sure that this is correct at all times. I have to make sure to look at all the receipts making sure that the item is received properly. When I complete my bachelors in business and human resource I would like to be in a retail environment. I’ve been with this company about 9 years I feel I have experience and not the education and that’s why I’m back in college so I will not get turned down a position because of the lack of education. I believe I could be selected for a store manager position because the education and experience and the classes that I have taken to become a manager. I will need to focus on improving my performance at work. The more I learn about what is needed to become a store manager the easier it will become when I’ve met my goal. Within the 3 years of my retail profession I will have my Masters in business and human resource that will give me a higher level of education. I will have more training and more experience for the job of being a training facility manager. I have had 2 manager position in aafes I have been in the position as a Burger King manager and a Retail Manager. I believe with my experience and education I will be more than qualified for the next positions. Within the 5 years of my retail profession I would like to become a retail HR anager I will have my Masters by then I’ll have experience being a store manager and food manager also being a training facility manager and that would be my dream job and I would stick with that until I retire. I would be more knowledgeable of the different job titles. I would have more experience on what you can do in the company and what you can’t do in the company. I would have the experience to make sure the employees complaints are taken care of and be more knowledgeable within the company so I could be successful of helping the employees on different levels. The career path that I have chosen will benefit my family. They always say â€Å"hard work pays off â€Å"(Evans, Stephanie) and I believe that I would have to sacrifice my weekends and holidays with my family for upcoming years for the job of my dreams. I would love to have a 9-to-5 job with weekends and holidays off but I believe that is a small price to pay for 2 years versus 18 years of the job of your dreams. Knowledge is power in my eyes. (Stephanie Evans) I feel that if I have the education and experiences that I will be successful in meeting goals. I am dedicated I’m a hard worker I’m reliable and trustworthy. Most of my colleagues come to me because I will share the information that will help them be successful in this company as well. I believe in this company because my dad served in the Army and my husband is in the currently in the Army. I always wanted to join the Army but I couldn’t because I am physically handicapped and this is one way I can serve my country by putting a smile on the faces of the men and women that serve our country, putting their life on the line for our freedom. And all I want to do is to make sure they have great customer service and will have great experience when they shop at AAFES. References Anderson, L, E., & Bolt, S.B. (2013). Environment and renewable energy

EnvironmentThe word environment means ‘surroundings ‘ . It includes everything that we depend on during the class of our life such as air, H2O, dirt, works, animate beings etc. The most serious environmental job of today is the pollution of air, H2O and dirt, lives of endangered species of workss and animate beings, planetary heating, interrupting of ozone bed, acid rains and devastation of tropical rain woods.Renewable EnergyA really utile method to minimise the environmental pollution is the usage of renewable energy systems alternatively of the conventional resources. Renewable energy by its definition agencies, â€Å"Renewable energy is derived from natural procedures that are replenished invariably. In its assorted signifiers, it derives straight from the Sun, or from heat generated deep within the Earth. Included in the definition is electricity and heat generated from solar, air current, ocean, hydropower, biomass, geothermic resources, and bio fuels and H derived from renewable resources.† In kernel, a phenomenon uses non-pollutant beginning as fuel alternatively of conventional fuel like oil and coal.Solar EnergyThe most popular and simple manner of alternate energy is solar energy i.e. the electricity produced by Sun ‘s radiation. There are two methods of accomplishing the above-named end,Photovoltaic CellsA photovoltaic cell alterations sunlight straight into electricity. These cells usually produces 1 – 2 Watts of electricity which is non sufficient plenty to run contraptions, hence a figure of such cells are bound together to organize big faculties and even these faculties can be connected to organize arrays to bring forth needed power end product. PV systems can easy be used at any distant site like RF Stationss. They are besides used to power tickers, reckoners, route marks and street lamps. Electricity produced by these faculties green goodss Direct Current ( DC ) whereas the normal place contraptions that we use are Alternate Current ( AC ) applia nces hence an inverter is required to change over the DC into AC.Solar Power PlantsThey indirectly generate electricity when the heat from solar thermic aggregators is used to heat a fluid that produces steam to travel the turbine that is connected to ordinary generators. Restrictions The end product of solar energy systems depend on sum of solar radiation produced by the Sun at that peculiar site and at that peculiar clip of the twelvemonth. Furthermore, the PV faculties are merely 18 % efficient nevertheless ; attempts are being made to increase their efficiency to a singular degree.Wind MillsThe windmill systems includes wind turbine with a conventional generator. The air current fluxing green goodss mechanical energy in a turbine that is converted into electricity from a conventional generator coupled to the turbine. These systems works basically the same as coevals from fossil fuels except that alternatively mechanical energy produced by utilizing steam it is produced from the burning of fossil fuels, the mechanical motion is produced by the air current flow. Modern air current turbines range from 600 kilowatts to 5 MW of power end product, although turbines with rated end product of 1.5-3 MW have become really common for commercial usage. Restrictions The power end product of a turbine is a map of the regular hexahedron of the air current velocity, so as air current velocity additions, power end product additions. Areas where air currents are stronger and more changeless, such as offshore and high height sites are preferable locations for air current farms. Since air current velocity is non changeless, the energy production besides varies.Nuclear Power PlantsNuclear power workss usually use atomic fission reaction to bring forth energy. In fission the karyon of big, atoms such as uranium 235 or Pu 239, is split into two or more smaller karyon bring forthing big sum of kinetic energy along with free neutrons and gamma radiation. The free neutrons are used to bring forth more such fission reactions. A chilling system removes heat from reactor nucleus and transports it to the country where thermic energy is used to heat unstable bring forthing steam to revolve the turbine coupled with conventional generators. Issues It is fact that the atomic waste is risky to the environment but these hazards can be eliminated by utilizing improved method to manage the waste merchandises. Furthermore, atomic reactors produce virtually no air pollution and the energy green goods is much higher than the fossil-fuel generators. In add-on, atomic power produces far less godforsaken stuff than fossil-fuel based power workss. Coal combustion workss are peculiarly noted for bring forthing big sums of toxic and mildly radioactive ash due to concentrating of course happening metals and radioactive stuff from the coal. Restrictions The atomic power workss have high initial investing and the care cost is besides really high.DecisionThe renewable energy system uses fuel that has unlimited militias, free of cost and generalized being like sunbeams for solar systems and air for air current factory systems, even U for atomic power workss are really abundant in nature. It is about every bit common as Sn or Ge in Earth ‘s crust, and is approximately 35 times more common than Ag. In add-on, more significantly they are none or far less pollutant than the conventional beginnings. However, these renewable energy systems produce no air or H2O pollution but do hold some indirect impacts on the environment. For illustration, fabricating the photovoltaic cells used to change over sunshine into electricity consumes silicon and produces some waste merchandises. In add-on, big solar thermal farms and windmill can besides harm desert ecosystems if non decently managed. Man in the name of engineering and scientific promotion does these amendss to the Mother Earth like the arms that we make to safe lives are really killing ourselves by one manner or the other. It is we who in the unsighted pursuit of technological promotion had willing or unwillingly destroyed the full ecological system and it is our premier responsibility now to salvage it as our endurance depends on its being

Importance Of A Teaching Philosophy Education Essay

Alhamdulillah, my learning experience began when I was still a pupil in secondary school. The deferral and interruptions were the occasions for me to affect myself in the instruction procedure. This continued at place whereby I used to acquire phone calls from my friends to explicate about a peculiar subject from topics like mathematics, natural philosophies and chemical science. After graduating from college, I worked for six months as instructor in a private secondary school in my vicinity before prosecuting myself into third surveies. Hence, I could state that working as a instructor after my graduation from university is something I would see as normal. Actually, I am in my 5th twelvemonth as an pedagogue and Alhamdulillah, I had the experience of working in three different schools with pupils, both male childs and misss, from different socio-cultural backgrounds. In the undermentioned chapters, I would wish to portion my instruction doctrine. But first, the importance of developing one ‘s learning doctrine will be discussed.Chapter Two – Importance of a Teaching DoctrineA instruction doctrine statement is â€Å" a systematic and critical principle that focuses on the of import constituents specifying effectual instruction and acquisition in a peculiar subject and/or institutional context † ( Schonwetter et all, 2002, p.84 ) . Harmonizing to Campos ( 2010, p.2 ) , it states â€Å" our acquisition experiences, ends, beliefs, degree of professionalism and self-development among many other elements † . As for Natasha Kenny ( 2008, p.8 ) , an educational developer at the University of Guelph, a learning doctri ne statement â€Å" clearly and logically communicates what your cardinal values and beliefs are about learning and acquisition, why you hold these values and beliefs, and how you translate these values and beliefs into your mundane instruction and acquisition experiences. † Sing the importance of developing a instruction doctrine, Coppola ( 2002, p.450 ) states that â€Å" the instruction statement gives you a get downing point for analyzing your instruction patterns, allows you to portion your thoughts with others, and allows you to supervise the advancement of your ain development as a instructor † . Brookfield ( 1990 ) identified four different intents in developing a instruction doctrine. These intents are: Personal intent ; it is good that your learning doctrine reflects why you are making what you are making. Political intent ; your learning doctrine demands to demo that your place is grounded in a well-developed and carefully doctrine of pattern. This helps you to derive regard, which is of import to turn yourself in the political country. Professional intent ; your learning doctrine demands to demo your professional ends to develop an individuality that will assist you to better the development of professional strengths among other instructors. Pedagogical intent ; instruction is about turning and happening new ways to develop your lessons harmonizing to the scholars ‘ demands, so your learning doctrine should demo what consequence you are holding on pupils and on their acquisition?Chapter Three – My Teaching Doctrine3.1 Teaching in Generalâ€Å" Teaching should be such that what is offered is perceived as a valuable gift instead than a difficult responsibility † – Albert Einstein Alhamdulillah, since I began learning, I had the juncture to learn different topics, besides Mathematicss, like English Literature, Computer Studies and Integrated Science to pupils with a wide scope of demands, cognition, and cultural backgrounds. Apart from working as pedagogue in colleges, I besides try to assist my friends and others outside school. Furthermore, I used to give a particular class on â€Å" Tajweed † to my brothers of the Islamic religion in the mosque. I one time had the chance to learn a friend who was set abouting his undergraduate grade in Mathematicss and he was older than me. Several of import general rules that I try to utilize in my instruction pattern can be formulated as follows: No affair how experienced a instructor is, every new category and every new pupil pose a challenge. For excellence in instruction, there is ever room for betterment. A instructor has to appeal to different acquisition manners, to offer a assortment of instructional experiences, and to maintain an unfastened head to new learning techniques to give every pupil the chance to take part to the full and actively in the acquisition procedure. Bing a successful instructor depends on making a acquisition environment with the unfastened geographic expedition of thoughts, a relationship in which pupils feel respected every bit good as challenged. Students should be encouraged to stretch themselves a bit beyond their degree of comfort and be given an chance to go forth every category feeling that they have overcome a new challenge successfully. Teaching should be an built-in constituent of the creative activity of new cognition, an initial measure toward go oning instruction, and foremost of all, self-cultivation. Though student satisfaction is of import for better acquisition, learning – particularly in mathematics – should non go a popularity competition, or a show. A instructor is responsible to the society in general, and should defy the force per unit area of take downing academic criterions in instruction.3.2 Teaching of Mathematicssâ€Å" We could utilize up two Eternities in larning all that is to be learned about our ain universe and the 1000s of states that have arisen and flourished and vanished from it.A Mathematics entirely would busy me eight million old ages † – Mark Twain â€Å" Mathematics is like checkerss [ draughtss ] in being suited for the immature, non excessively hard, amusive, and without hazard to the province † – Plato Bing a mathematics instructor every bit good as a lover of the topic, there are some characteristics of mathematics that makes it a really particular subject. To call a few: Mathematicss is an first-class rational game where all the participants win. Mathematicss is besides a theoretical account that can be used for developing independent and critical thought. Mathematicss can be seen as a linguistic communication that allows us to pass on thoughts exactly between ourselves. Last, mathematics is a tool used in natural scientific disciplines and, therefore, a needed subject for many pupils. The above statements entirely actuate me to portion my mathematical cognition, among others, to my pupils. However, my ends for learning mathematics are many. First, communicate to my pupils that mathematics is a merriment and better their assurance approximately mathematics every bit good as cut downing their anxiousness about mathematics. Other ends are: Detect and make full spreads in pupils ‘ anterior math cognition Develop a mathematical sense about measures, geometry, and symbols Develop a assortment of problem-solving schemes and basic computational accomplishments Enable and empower pupils Enable pupils to do judgements based on quantitative information, to turn out basic consequences, to read mathematics efficaciously and to understand their ain idea procedures Promote a broader involvement in mathematics Ensure that pupils truly understand constructs Establish constructive pupil attitudes about mathematics Facilitate acquisition of life-long acquisition accomplishments Foster a desire to inquire mathematics inquiries, critical thought, pupil find of mathematics and surrogate apprehension of the cogent evidence of cardinal theorems Teach the beauty of mathematics Aid pupils learn the cardinal theorems and their applications Improve pupils ‘ apprehension of engineering Improve pupils ‘ authorship abilities Increase the figure of mathematics big leagues every bit good as the pupils ‘ mathematical cognition Model expert problem-solving Motivate pupils to do an attempt to larn mathematics Open the doors to other chances for pupils Prepare future mathematicians, pupils for proficient callings and pupils to be knowing grownups Thatch applications to other Fieldss ; particularly for abstract topics like vectors whereby pupils frequently ask the inquiry: â€Å" where will vectors used us in our life? † Teach reckoner and computing machine accomplishments, cardinal constructs, generalizing, logical logical thinking, mathematical authorship, foretelling, problem-solving and proof-reading of mathematics Thatch pupils how to interpret back and Forth between words and mathematics Thatch pupils to work collaboratively It is, unluckily, really hard to seek to demo the existent beauty of mathematics in the model of most bing course of study as they are designed to feed pupils with frequently more facts than anyone could get down. Just covering the needed stuff normally takes a bit more clip than is available. Another job is that mathematics as a linguistic communication can be rather proficient, and to explicate something meaningful, one has to pass old ages larning regulations of the mathematical grammar foremost. I consider mathematics to be a disputing topic to learn, which makes it particularly attractive for me. I try to utilize every possibility to expose pupils to the exciting universe of mathematics, frequently implicitly, so they may non even detect it at first. I think that pupils ‘ engagement is important for larning mathematics.3.3 Teaching Manners and MethodsMy mathematics schoolroom features multiple of methods of direction that depends on: the capable affair of the lesson, that is, the subject to be taught and my experience with how single pupils and categories best learn mathematics. On some occasions, the student-centred attack or whole-class treatments are undertaken while on other occasions, small-group probes are carried out and still others see persons working one-on-one with another pupil or with me. This schoolroom interaction helps construct relationships between my pupils and I and at the same time, among the pupils themselves. These assorted schoolroom patterns help turn to the varied acquisition manners found in the mathematics schoolroom. Furthermore, I prepare my categories meticulously, but I like to improvize whenever possible. I dislike being interrupted during my account but I love it when the pupils ask inquiries afterwards ; and I congratulate them for any good inquiries and remarks. I open each session with a brief reminder of the old session ‘s stuff and an lineation of the twenty-four hours ‘s subject, and I typically conclude with a sum-up of cardinal points. There is a particular session for reappraisal before every major trial. I normally speak clearly, aloud, and easy, but enthusiastically. Students are encouraged to larn from each other as their classs are non curved, therefore, pupils are non viing with their schoolmates. In some categories, particularly my Incorporate Science categories, I give group undertakings and prep, depending on the subject being covered. When possible, I distribute solutions to homework jobs, quizzes, and trials. To cut down pupils ‘ anxiousness about trials, I usually give my pupils alteration exercisings before any major trial and I encourage them to work excess jobs on their ain and come to see me for any jobs. I do non see memorisation to be the most of import in mathematics categories ; this is why I make and promote my pupils a batch to pattern maximal figure of jobs. If the course of study would hold allowed it, I would do all my trials open-book/notes. Assignments and undertakings are of course integrated into my classs. I spend clip explicating the assignments and work outing similar jobs in category for farther treatment.3.4 Use of TechnologyI remember that one time I was in a meeting with my above 70 twelvemonth old curate and he told me: â€Å" In my clip, when we had to make a mathematical computation, we used the logarithm tabular array † and he asked me whether I knew how to utilize the logarithm tabular array! Alhamdulillah, today we have the electronic reckoner. This small piece of engineering is the lone electro nic device that our pupils can utilize in their surveies as the different course of study do non provide for the usage of other electronic devices in the scrutiny room. I would hold loved to see a alteration in these course of study which would enable more the usage of engineering in the acquisition of mathematics. Personally, I am a great fan of the newest educational package that may be used in the instruction and acquisition procedure. At present, to utilize mathematical package at college would look unrealistic but I hope to happen a alteration shortly in the course of study which will do it existent. However, pupils foremost need to understand that engineering is a tool, much like a compass or a protractor, and that engineering must be used merely as a tool. Central to my usage of engineering in the schoolroom is the thought that pupils must understand what they are making mathematically even when they use engineering as an assistance. As mentioned earlier, the most omnipresent piece of engineering in and out of the schoolroom is the electronic reckoner. While the reckoner can be a utile tool to decrease the plodding of computations, it is of import for pupils to be able to work without it. This does non intend that reckoners should non be used, but instead that pupils should hold some intuition about whether an reply is sensible. The usage of reckoners and other engineering can better a pupil ‘s intuition of mathematics and mathematical logical thinking. While most exercisings in a statistics category have comparatively little informations sets, utilizing premade informations sets and computing machine plans allows pupils to derive existent experience with professional tools and helps them visualise tendencies. The usage of computing machine package with prepared illustrations is really utile for in-class visual images in different classs, such as differential equations, concretion, and even pre-calculus. Wh ile making the assignment for the module Instructional Technology for my Bed Course, I came across package called Yenka which provides simulations. I truly appreciated the portion on chance where while explicating the different results when fliping two coins, there a simulation really fliping the two coins. I hope, insha Allah, to utilize it when I explicating this subject t my pupils in the close hereafter. With the coming of tablet PCs, I am hopeful, insha Allah, that it is merely a affair of clip before the usage of mathematical package and on-line scrutiny at secondary degree will be implemented. But, at the same clip, I strongly oppose the maltreatment of engineering. There are classs in mathematics, where pupils need to larn how to utilize their encephalon instead than calculators/computers. In my short experience in instruction, I came across an HSc ( Higher School Certificate ) pupil making the simple arithmetic job utilizing a reckoner! ! !3.5 My Best Personal Achievementâ€Å" Facilitate things to people and do non do it difficult for themaˆÂ ¦ † – Prophet Muhammad ( Peace and Blessing of God Almighty be upon Him ) I unfeignedly believe that the best academic public presentation of a pupil is non to see the high-flyer pupil being ranked foremost at the terminal of the twelvemonth but instead to see the low-achiever pupil able to reply about all inquiries of the same exam paper right at the terminal of the twelvemonth and have a really good consequence, irrespective of his/her overall rank. At my school, the construct of cyclosis is applied to divide the best pupils, frequently labeled as the â€Å" high-flyers † , and those less able pupils, frequently labeled as low-achiever pupils ( some advocates of the Marxist position will differ wholly with this construct ) . Last twelvemonth, I had the chance to work with the less able pupils of Form I and Form II, learning Integrated Science. Alhamdulillah, I was motivated but I could that a batch of these pupils lack motive. Furthermore, some of them came from hapless socio-background and some came from broken households. There was even a kid who repeated Form I! So, at first it seems really hard to anticipate that half of them would understand the different subjects even more so that they would go through their concluding twelvemonth test. After all, we are speaking about Science which purportedly is a topic for the intelligent pupils. I figured out that I should utilize a different attack with them. Finally, I opted for the â€Å" Learning by Fun † construct. It required much more energy from me but Alhamdulillah, I do non repent for one second all the energy used that twelvemonth when working with these pupils as the ground is obvious ; about all students non merely passed the concluding twelvemonth scrutiny but they really obtained really good consequences Masha Allah. The frost on the bar was when the caput of the scientific discipline section informed me that the curate was really pleased with the consequence.3.6 Reasoning NotesI believe that each kid is a alone person who needs a secure, lovingness, and exciting ambiance in which to turn and maturate emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an pedagogue to assist pupils run into their fullest potency in these countries by supplying an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of thoughts. The re are three indispensable elements that I believe are contributing to set uping such an environment, the instructor moving as a usher, leting the kid ‘s natural wonder to direct his/her acquisition, and advancing regard for all things and all people. When the instructor ‘s function is to steer, supplying entree to information instead than moving as the primary beginning of information, the pupils ‘ hunt for cognition is met as they learn to happen replies to their inquiries. For pupils to build cognition, they need the chance to detect for themselves and pattern accomplishments in reliable state of affairss. Supplying pupils entree to hands-on activities and leting equal clip and infinite to utilize stuffs that reinforce the lesson being studied creates an chance for single find and building of cognition to happen. Equally of import to self-discovery is holding the chance to analyze things that are meaningful and relevant to one ‘s life and involvements. Developing a course of study around pupil involvements Fosters intrinsic motive and stimulates the passion to larn. Helping pupils to develop a deep love and regard for themselves, others, and their environment occurs through an unfastened sharing of thoughts and a wise attack to train. When the voice of each pupil is heard, and environment evolves where pupils feel free to show themselves. Class meetings are one manner to promote such duologue. I believe kids have greater regard for their instructors, their equals, and the lessons presented when they feel safe and certain of what is expected of them. In puting just and consistent regulations ab initio and saying the importance of every activity, pupils are shown regard for their presence and clip. In bend they learn to esteem themselves, others, and their environment. For me, learning provides an chance for continual acquisition and growing. One of my hopes as an pedagogue is to transfuse a love of larning in my pupils, as I portion my ain passion for larning with them. I feel there is a demand for compassionate, strong, and dedicated persons who are excited about working with kids. In our competitory society it is of import for pupils to non merely have a solid instruction, but to work with person who is cognizant of and sensitive to their single demands. Alhamdulillah, I am such a individual and will ever endeavor to be the best pedagogue that I can be.
